Responsible Sourcing
As a commodity trading house, our core business involves the sourcing and transport of products and materials from external third parties.
What we source, from whom we source and from where we source are all factors that ArrowResources considers before engaing with trading partners.
In consideration of the Paris Agreement objectives, ArrowResources ceased trading coal in 2018.
We ensure that the Group does not buy materials and services that do not comply with national and international laws. ArrowResources upholds and supports human rights and actively engages in responsible sourcing initiatives with its suppliers. To support our control over these aspects, and to guide our due diligence, ESG and sourcing methodologies, we conduct our sourcing activities according to relevant internal policies, codes and standards as listed above and align with the following external standards and guidelines:
- London Metal Exchange’s (LME) Responsible Sourcing Standard;
- Joint Due Diligence Standard for Copper, Lead, Nickel & Zinc;
- The OECD’s Model Supply Chain Policy for a Responsible Global Supply Chain of Minerals from Conflict-Affected & High-Risk Areas;
- Responsible Minerals Initiative’s standards on ESG & Global Responsible Sourcing;
- Responsible Business Alliance’s guidance on the Responsible Sourcing of Goods & Services;
- Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) Protocols
- ISO 20400 guidance on Sustainable Procurement.
Transparency & Reporting
The scarcity of natural resources, climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical volatility has accelerated the need for environmental, social and governance (ESG) in all business sectors. Many of the aspects related to ESG have now shifted to systemic business management obligations that require an auditable level of materiality, which is becoming “business as usual”. As a company, we face scrutiny on these aspects from our stakeholders, including our investors, financiers, customers, employees and regulatory authorities. We aim to transparently report ESG issues using representative and verifiable data, using reporting methodologies such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
ArrowResources aims to make available its first Annual Sustainability Report for its activities and operations in 2023.
Memberships & Certifications
ArrowResources’ metals and minerals division is a member of the London Metal Exchange (LME) and is certified by International Tin Association’s ITSCI which guarantees the responsible sourcing of this metal. The metals division has seen continual certification in ISO9001:2015 since 2019 which is currently valid through to September 2025.
ArrowResources collaborates with its principal supply chain, notably its nickel producers to ensure they are certified in ESG related management systems. Our principal suppliers in this area all hold valid certification for ISO9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), ISO14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems) and ISO45001 (Health & Safety Management Systems). These suppliers are also REACH compliant.
